Sadness with thanksgiving

The funeral of Neil Chapman took place this morning - necessarily at Mountsett Crematorium with only close family mourners. The funeral would have been in St. Cuthbert’s where he and his wife, Jean, were married on this day in 1962. We hope there will be a memorial service in due course - many will know the Chapmans through the service they have given our own and other communities in the family firm of William Low pharmacies. Family flowers have returned to our Garden of Remembrance. The other photos were taken at Mountsett before the service.

Updates and Sunday Preparation

Tomorrow is the Second Sunday of Easter.

Our parishes' notice sheet is now online - click here to view and / or download.

While we haven't been able to produce a hard copy of the Parish Magazine, there's a special issue now available, again online if you click here.

You can also find these and more by visiting the relevant pages on this site.

And here's Caravaggio's wonderful "Incredulity of St. Thomas," his response to tomorrow's Gospel reading. Find the readings of the day in the online notice sheet...

Reading of the Passion

Our Parish Eucharist for Palm Sunday

Recorded in St. Cuthbert's Vicarage with only one communicant in physical terms, but conscious of our common calling to be Christ's Body in the world and to lie as his people.

All glory, laud and honour

While we can't worship in our churches, here's a reminder of the wonderful processional hymn with which we begin our liturgy for Palm Sunday.

Night Prayer - for any day in Passion-tide

Sorrow - and beauty

The funeral of Neville Telford took place yesterday - necessarily at Mountsett Crematorium with only close family able to be present. But the flowers from the funeral have come back to St. Cuthbert's. Here they are in place in our Garden of Remembrance - with the daffodils of the churchyard coming into bloom. Best wishes to Jean - his wife, daughter - Carol (our churchwarden), son - David, and all their family.
